Ever since the 2016 General Election, I have been fascinated with how data can allow us to easily understand why certain candidates perform better than others. I have grown to appreciate data visualization through reading platforms such as 538 and the NYTimes. I appreciate how data visualization can be used to tell a story, and these sources have inspired me to tell a new story about elections through data by myself, which is the motivation for this project. I created a proof of concept for these graphs through tableau, with final versions being created in JS.D3. The website was built from scratch with HTML and CSS.
Since staying at an Airbnb while visiting Seattle last year, I became interested in correlations between different neighborhoods and their Airbnb rates. I found multiple datasets on Kaggle related to these rates, which I cleaned in Excel. I then queried the data in SQL through Google BigQuery to perform exploratory data analysis. I finally visualized the data by creating a Tableau dashboard, which is easy to understand for any potential Airbnb hosts.

COVID-19 has undoubtedly changed the course of all our lives, but it has definitely impacted some communities more than others. To truly understand the effects the pandemic has caused, I accessed publicly available data regarding COVID-19 deaths and vaccinations. I cleaned this data in Microsoft Excel, and I loaded it into a PostgreSQL database to query with SQL. Using joins, aggregate functions, and CTEs, I was able to better understand the inequalities related to the pandemic. I discovered that countries that experienced the worst deaths were often the latest to receive vaccinations.
